Responsibilities
- Carry out welding and fabrication work on fire protection pipework, steel supports, brackets, frames, and related components.
- Cut, fit, align, tack, and weld pipes and steel components according to approved drawings.
- Fabricate pipe supports, brackets, base frames, sleeves, clamps, and other steel components.
- Read and interpret engineering and fabrication drawings, dimensions, and welding symbols.
- Support sprinkler, hydrant, hose reel, fire suppression, and related mechanical piping installations.
- Check measurements, dimensions, alignment, and levels during fabrication.
- Perform grinding, finishing, and dressing of completed welds when required.
- Inspect completed welds for visible defects and correct faulty work.
- Operate welding machines, grinders, cutting machines, drilling machines, and other fabrication equipment safely.
- Minimize material waste and report shortages or damaged materials.
- Maintain clean and organized fabrication and work areas.
- Support inspections, pressure testing, and other quality control activities.
- Work with supervisors, engineers, pipe fitters, electricians, and other project personnel.
- Follow daily work instructions and meet assigned production targets.
Requirements
- Minimum qualification of SSCE.
- At least three years of experience in a similar welding or steel fabrication role.
- Practical welding and fabrication skills.
- Ability to use welding and fabrication equipment safely.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings is required for the role.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication quality standards.
- Good understanding of workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment during welding and hot work.
- Good attention to detail and accurate measurement skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
