Responsibilities
- Conduct field research with Energy Officers, customers, and operations teams.
- Run usability tests, contextual interviews, and concept tests.
- Design end-to-end journeys for sales, onboarding, collections, servicing, and support.
- Simplify complex user flows across online and offline experiences.
- Create production-ready interfaces with strong attention to typography, spacing, ranking, and legibility.
- Design experiences for low-end Android devices, small screens, limited storage, intermittent connectivity, and low digital literacy.
- Maintain the product design system, component library, and design standards.
- Build clickable prototypes to test ideas and resolve design questions early.
- Use AI tools to explore concepts, generate design variants, draft copy, and support research and prototyping.
- Prepare handoff-ready files, specifications, and interface states for engineering teams.
- Review product builds before release and maintain implementation quality.
- Define success metrics and use adoption, funnel, and user data to improve products.
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and market operations teams.
- Travel to Sun King markets, including Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Myanmar, as required.
Requirements
- 5 to 7 years of experience designing digital products, with significant mobile design experience.
- Strong portfolio of shipped product work with detailed case studies.
- Experience designing for emerging markets, field operations, fintech, or last-mile distribution is an advantage.
- Strong ability to structure and evaluate complex or ambiguous design problems.
- Clear written communication and ability to explain design decisions to non-designers.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
- Expert knowledge of Figma, including components, variables, auto layout, and prototyping.
- Hands-on experience building or maintaining design systems.
- Practical skills in usability testing, contextual inquiry, and field interviews.
- Knowledge of Android design conventions and Material Design.
- Understanding of accessibility, legibility, touch targets, contrast, and text scaling.
- Ability to interpret funnel, adoption, and A/B testing data.
- Comfortable using AI tools throughout the design workflow.
- Experience with offline-first applications, service design, motion design, front-end development, SQL, or emerging-market finance products is an advantage.
